Infor Landmark Async for the End User – How to Create a Job Stream

December 11, 2019

By Delmar Dehn, Senior Product Manager

Infor Landmark asynchronous queues framework (async) is fundamental to any Infor Landmark technology platform-based application’s operations. Infor Landmark async is a powerful engine through which various actions related to Infor Landmark technology platform-based applications, for example, Infor CloudSuite Financials & Supply Management and Infor Global Human Resources, are handled. Infor Landmark async determines whether an action will process now or at a designated date and/or time. Infor Landmark async examples include application actions, process flow actions, application generated emails, user-generated documents, future-dated actions, and scheduling jobs and job streams. Infor Landmark async’s capabilities apply to any Infor Landmark technology platform-based application and to Infor cloud-based customers and Infor on-premises customers.

Since Infor Landmark async is applicable to every Infor Landmark technology platform-based application, Infor will be posting here on the Infor Technology Blog a series of Infor Landmark async videos describing and demonstrating this powerful feature. The video demonstrations are hosted and narrated by one of Infor’s foremost Infor Landmark async subject matter experts, Don Peterson, Principal Business Analyst.

The Infor Landmark async for the end user video series will include:

Part 1:  Introduction
Part 2:  How to Schedule a PDF Report
Part 3:  How to Create a Job
Part 4:  How to Create a Job Stream
Part 5:  Effective Dated Transactions
Part 6:  Error Handling

In this post’s part 4 video, Don describes and demonstrates how to create a job stream from the Infor CloudSuite Financials & Supply Management application’s Asset Analyst role. He answers the question, what is a “job stream?” A job stream takes single jobs and strings them together to run as a group. Jobs in a job stream may all run together or one after the other. That is, when one job completes, then another job runs. Don’s example demonstration uses the Asset Analyst role to create and schedule an Asset Register job stream comprised of two existing jobs for the Asset Register for two different companies to run overnight, so the results can be viewed the next day. Be sure to watch for the upcoming Infor Landmark async videos in the coming weeks.
