The Infor Lawson Add-Ins for Microsoft Office product has a new governance feature in version 10.0.7.190. With this new feature, Infor Lawson administrators can configure the Infor Lawson Add-Ins for Microsoft Office product to prevent large data queries and data uploads that can negatively impact system performance.
What is Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office?
The Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office (or Lawson Add-ins) product consists of several applications or wizards that integrate the Infor Lawson applications with Microsoft Excel. Here’s a short description for the following wizards, which are for the Infor Lawson applications.
- The Lawson Query Wizard lets you extract data from the Lawson applications into an Excel worksheet. The Query Wizard gives you the ability to format data, set selection criteria, sort results, perform calculations, and specify a worksheet for the output. Query results can be exported into Microsoft Word for mail merges.
- The Lawson Upload Wizard lets you load limited amounts of Excel worksheet data directly into specified Infor Lawson application form fields.
Note: The Upload Wizard is for relatively small amounts of data, typically a few hundred records at the most. Infor Lawson applications provide numerous batch programs for uploading large amounts of data.
Configuring Infor Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office
Use this procedure to adjust several parameters that affect the processing of transactions started by users of Infor Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office. The purpose of these parameters is to mitigate any overloading of the Infor Lawson System Foundation server due to too many and too frequent requests from Infor Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office.
System administrators should communicate to the Infor Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office users the purpose of these parameters. In general, whenever possible, the users should use existing batch programs rather than Infor Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office, and users should not use Infor Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office to submit large numbers of transactions (that is, they should submit fewer than 500 at a time). As an administrator, be aware that if you raise the limit for the maximum number of data rows or if you lower the idle time between either different batches of transactions being processed or single data rows being processed, you may cause the system performance to degrade.
Add and/or edit the following parameters in order to modify the processing of transactions generated by users of Infor Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office.
|com.lawson.moa.upload.batch.maxrows||Default value is 500.
The maximum number of data rows that Infor Lawson Add-ins for Microsoft Office can upload at once. If you attempt to upload a larger number, the processing will pause for the number of milliseconds specified for the com.lawson.moa.upload.batch idletime parameter before processing the next set of rows.
|com.lawson.moa.upload.batch.idletime||Default value is 1000.
The length of time in milliseconds that Add-ins is idle before it performs another batch upload.
|com.lawson.moa.transaction.idletime||Default value is 100.
The length of time in milliseconds that Add-ins is idle in between uploading single data rows.
|com.lawson.moa.multithreading.visible||Default value is FALSE.
Defines the visibility setting for the Enabled Multi-Threaded Requests option found in the Upload Wizard.
If multi-threading access within the Add-ins attribute set in Lawson Security Administrator is different from the value here, then the value in Lawson Security Administrator is used.
Two software updates are required:
- Install Infor Lawson System Foundation (LSF) feature patch for JT-982176.
- Update Infor Lawson Add-Ins for Microsoft Excel to version 10.0.7.190.
The Governance parameters are configured via iosconfig.xml.
