Infor Lawson System Foundation – Noteworthy Enhancements

November 3, 2015

By Delmar Dehn, Senior Product Manager

Infor Lawson System Foundation was released in October 2015 and it contains many noteworthy enhancements that will interest our blog readers. Here is a quick rundown of what you will find in this release:

New default behavior (USE_PRIVILEGED_ID) for database user and password during installation

As of release, the installation program creates a database service called “DB<YourDataArea>SVC” (for example, “DBLSFPROD1SVC”). The service is where database user name and passwords are stored. Passwords are stored as encrypted in Infor Security. The setting of “USE_PRIVILEGED_ID” is the default.

New environments and new product lines for existing environments will be installed using this service. The database security service is not new but previously a manual, post-installation process was required to set it up. If you have an existing database service with a different name, you can continue to use it.

Existing environments and productlines will not be updated at installation. They will retain the previous default setting with the user and password in the database configuration (CAP) file or their previous manual configuration.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 is now supported. This is useful for those customers wanting to update their application server operating system. NOTE: RHEL 7 requires Micro Focus Visual COBOL.
