Infor Lawson System Foundation 10.0.5.0 – Noteworthy New Enhancements

Last month (May 2014) Infor Lawson System Foundation 10.0.5.0 was released and it contains many noteworthy new enhancements that will interest our blog readers.  Here is a quick rundown of what you will find in this release:

Google Chrome web browser is now supported.

The Google Chrome web browser version 27 and higher operating on the Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS desktop operating systems is now supported. The newly supported Google Chrome web browser provides another web browser option for customers operating Microsoft Windows desktop operating system computers but preferring to not use the Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 web browser is now supported.

The Microsoft Internet Explorer web browser version 11 operating on the Microsoft Windows desktop operating system is now supported.

Microsoft Windows 8.1 desktop operating system is now supported.

The Microsoft Windows 8.1 desktop operating system is now supported. This is useful for those customers also deploying the Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 web browser.

Microsoft Office 2013 is now supported.

Microsoft Office 2013 is now supported including Microsoft Excel 2013. This is useful for those customers deploying the Microsoft Windows 8.1 desktop operating system. And it’s useful for Infor Lawson Add-Ins for Microsoft Office customers wanting to use Microsoft Excel 2013.

IBM DB2 10.5 database is now supported.

Infor Lawson System Foundation 10.0.5.0 supports IBM DB2 version 10.5 as one of its database platforms. And Infor Lawson System Foundation 9.0.1.13, also released in May 2014, supports IBM DB2 version 10.5 as one of its database platforms, too.

Secure Telnet is now supported.

Support for Secure Telnet connectivity using the Infor Lawson Interface Desktop (LID) for Infor Lawson system administration. Unix and Microsoft Windows customers can now run the Infor Lawson Interface Desktop with SSH (Unix) and STunnel (Windows) for a more secure connection. The secure connection requires configuration and more information can be found in the Infor Lawson System Foundation Installation Guide. And Infor Lawson System Foundation 9.0.1.13 supports Secure Telnet, too.

Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) is now supported.

Support for Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) with Infor Lawson Security as the Security Token Service (LS as STS). Infor Lawson Security supports the use of ADFS in an LS as STS security configuration. This new capability provides an alternative to Kerberos authentication. Prerequisites and configuration instructions for Infor Lawson Security are available in the Infor Lawson 10 Authentication Configuration guide.

Work file distribution list paths

Work file distribution list paths can be set through Infor Lawson for Ming.le. Job parameter forms in Infor Lawson for Ming.le now contain a new button, Work File Distribution, that allows you to change the work file distribution path for the job. Formerly, this functionality was only available through the Job Definition utility (jobdef). Web-based Tool for Translations

A tool that lets Infor Lawson administrators define and configure translations using Infor Lawson for Ming.le is now available. This was previously done with a LID-based tool. More information can be found in the Infor Lawson Administration: Translation guide.

Support for Indian number formatting

Infor Lawson for Ming.le now supports comma separating for numbers as used in India. This change will happen automatically when India is selected for Locale. For more information about how to select a locale see the Infor Lawson Administration: Translation guide.

User interface changes

Infor Lawson for Ming.le has new and improved styling for ease of use. The Search box and user toolbar are now combined for a more compact look. End-users should find these changes self-evident. For more information see the Getting Started with Infor Lawson for Ming.le guide.

Infor Lawson Smart Reports features

Infor Lawson Smart Reports have been enhanced with the following features:

  • The Infor Lawson Smart Reports Designer (LSR Designer) is now available in 64-bit.
  • New template property SuppressFrontPage in LSR Designer gives the user control on displaying the job parameter page when running reports.
  • A shortcut key is added for opening Search Element window in LSR Designer.
  • LSR Designer allows users to open reportsettings.prefs configuration file in the report editor and use for previewing templates.
  • LSR format of bursted reports in Infor Lawson Business Intelligence (LBI) now has Bookmarks function.

IPv6 horizontal scaling on Microsoft Windows is now supported.

IPv6 horizontal scaling is supported on the Microsoft Windows Server operating system. Infor Lawson System Foundation 10.0.5.0 supports Microsoft Windows Server operating system customers who run under IPv6 horizontal scaling.
